The ONS Tech Stack Visualiser is a platform that maps and visualises repositories, projects, and dependencies across the Office for National Statistics.

Infrastructure is defined with Terraform and deploys a React and Node.js application to AWS ECS. More than 100 staff use it to locate projects, review technology choices, and inspect dependencies between repositories.

The tool supports search and cross-repository analysis so that engineering and technology leadership can identify reuse, modernisation opportunities, and duplicated effort. Data ingestion and visualisation are automated so that the picture updates as repositories change.

The implementation includes backend and frontend components, project ownership metadata, and customisable filters for technology assessment. Environments are reproducible through Terraform-managed resources, which supports scaling and change as departmental requirements evolve.
